Clever Knits yarn store permanently closed its doors on May 15, 2011.

We still knit the first Tuesday of every month from 7-10pm in the "Maté Attic" at the Yellow Deli, 315 E. Broadway, in Vista.

Clever Knitters,

Hello again! I've missed a month, and the biggest news right now is our sign (hooray!) and a plethora of new and exciting classes coming up! Thanks to all of you who came to take advantage of our sale this past weekend. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to carry some fun new yarns for summer -- LOTS of sock yarns, for lightweight shawls and the ever-so-portable sock projects!

1. It's a Sign!
Over 9 months after our ever-so-grand opening, we finally have SIGNAGE. That's right, folks. LETTERS big enough to see from the street. Nay, from a block away! Can you tell we're excited? Take a look at the pictures!

These events are social groups. No instruction is provided during these times -- they are just an opportunity to hang out with like-minded individuals, celebrating and practicing the fiber arts. Crochet Flowers Classes - April & May, 2010

Great for springtime embellishments on hats, sweaters, and scarves, we are offering TWO classes on making crochet flowers. The first class will cover basic flower-making techniques. Some crochet skill is required (students should already be comfortable with the basic stitches). The second class will cover more complex flower techniques, expanding on the skills covered in the first class.



Registration: Come in, call 760-806-6744, or email cleverknits@gmail.com to register. Advance payment is required to guarantee your space in class. Refunds available only if we are able to fill your place in the class.

Cost: $24 for EACH 2hr session (includes yarn)

Dates:
Sunday, April 18th: 4-6pm CANCELED
Sunday, May 2nd: 4-6pm MOVED to Friday, May 14th: 2-4pm

You will learn: (subject to change depending on the pace of the class) magic loop, basic flower technique. Second class will expand on flowers made in the first class.

Limit: 7 students, advance registration is required (classes may be canceled and all fees refunded if we do not have at least 3 students signed up).

Materials required:
  • Size F hook
  • Darning needle

Crochet 101 - April 2010

This class will go over how to do the basic stitches. This is the first class you should take if interested in learning to crochet -- and even if it's the ONLY class you ever take, you should be adept at making washcloths and scarves (and other square or rectangular objects).



Registration: Come in, call 760-806-6744, or email cleverknits@gmail.com to register. Advance payment is required to guarantee your space in class. Refunds available only if we are able to fill your place in the class.

Cost: $12 plus materials for the 2hr session ($18 if materials are purchased elsewhere)

Date:Wednesday, April 21st: 6-8pm

You will learn: (subject to change depending on the pace of the class) chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, weaving in ends.

Limit: 7 students, advance registration is required (classes may be canceled and all fees refunded if we do not have at least 3 students signed up).

Materials required:
  • 1 skein Cascade 220
  • Size H hook
  • Darning needle

Knit 101 - April 2010

This class will go over how to do the basic stitches. This is the first class you should take if interested in learning to knit -- and even if it's the ONLY class you ever take, you should be adept at making washcloths and scarves (and other square or rectangular objects).



Registration: Come in, call 760-806-6744, or email cleverknits@gmail.com to register. Advance payment is required to guarantee your space in class. Refunds available only if we are able to fill your place in the class.

Cost: $12 plus materials for the 2hr session ($18 if materials are purchased elsewhere)

Dates: Choose one or both. Most students can learn all the stitches in one class, but some students benefit from repeating the course.
  • Wednesday, April 14th: 5-7pm FULL
  • Saturday, April 24th: 12:30-2:30pm
You will learn: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, binding off, weaving in ends

Limit: 7 students, advance registration is required (classes may be canceled and all fees refunded if we do not have at least 3 students signed up).

Materials required:
  • 1 skein Cascade 220
  • Size 7, 8, or 9 knitting needles (straight bamboo needles are preferred, but metal/plastic needles or circular needles are acceptable)
  • Darning needle

It only took 9 1/2 months...

Let's just say this baby is WAY overdue, but we did it. We FINALLY got our sign put up!
