Our fall sale has begun here at Clever Knits -- we're DYING to order new yarns, but to do that, we need to clear out a bit of space on our shelves (which are PACKED to the gills and overflowing with yarn!).
We've marked dozens of yarns 25% off, some discounted as high as 40%. All books, booklets, and pattern leaflets are 15% off. Fabrics are also 15% off. Discounts as high as 40% on some notions and accessories, too.
Do come by to see what amazing deals you can snag on some SPECTACULAR yarns.
Clever Knits yarn store permanently closed its doors on May 15, 2011.
We still knit the first Tuesday of every month from 7-10pm in the "Maté Attic" at the Yellow Deli, 315 E. Broadway, in Vista.

The last couple weeks have been tough, so I've been delinquent about posting my Friday Insiders. Lexi and I both were terribly sick, and Karen was helping a friend move, so we had to close the shop for a day (gasp!). Hopefully never again!
Last week we got a whole bunch of Schaefer, which is wildly exciting. The last time I had Schaefer in the store, most all of it was gone in a day. In fact, so much of it disappeared that when Lisa, my Schaefer sales rep, stopped by to say hello last Friday, I had to buy more (Really, I couldn't help myself!). When Lisa has Schaefer, she has amazing one-of-a-kind colors that aren't in Schaefer's usual repertoire, so these are super special and very much worth stashing.

New last week is our first shipment of the new Jitterbug, all the way from England! Colinette no longer has a distributor in the US, so orders have to come all the way across the pond, which means longer lead times, but they've made it up to us by putting more yarn in their Jitterbug skeins. The new 150g skeins have 400 yards of the same delicious hand-dyed colors, and we're selling them for $27. We have just a few colors for now, and will be getting more in towards the end of October. To make room for the larger put-up, all the "old" Jitterbug (the 110g/291m skeins you know and love) is 20% off.
Also from Colinette is a bunch more Cadenza, Jitterbug's light-worsted weight counterpart. We have sweater quantities of this yarn just in time for Fall -- I'm working on Girl Friday from the latest Knitty (pattern) (ravelry link to my project) in Cadenza, and it's positively gorgeous. The yardage is exactly the same as the yarn called for in the Girl Friday pattern, but Cadenza comes in 50g skeins, so you need twice as many skeins. I've also made the Ellis vest (ravelry link to my project) from Norah Gaughan Book 2 out of Cadenza, and I just LOVE it.
And brand-spanking-new from Colinette is 'Art' -- a yarn so new that it wasn't even in Ravelry! This 79% wool / 21% bamboo yarn comes in at about 189yds per 100g skein. The bamboo does some amazing things to Colinette's gorgeous hand dyed colors, giving them a gentle lustre and subtlety of hue.

A few other exciting things from the week:
Our first Crochet 101 class started this Thursday, with tremendous turn-out! There are still two spaces in the next series, which starts October 8th, so be sure to sign up soon!
We announced our first Knit-a-long, which will meet Sundays from 4-6pm starting this Sunday.
And finally, more of the ever-so-popular Knit 101 classes have been announced for October.

Since we all seem to be obsessed with knitting the very same things, I'm announcing our very first official knit-a-long! The first project will be kernel from the current issue of Knitty, a beautiful and versatile lace scarf pattern (I think I'll be widening mine to make it more of a shawl, I love it so much!).

Some yarns I am suggesting for this pattern: of course, it would be gorgeous in a skein (or two!) of Handmaiden Sea Silk or any of the Schaefer sock yarns (Ann, Heather, or Nichole). A more affordable and also beautiful option would be Cascade's Heritage sock yarn (a steal at only $12/skein!). I'd also love to see it with the long, blending color blocks in the Zauberball.
If you're interested in participating, let me know if there's a good time for the KAL to meet (I'm thinking Sundays from 4-6 but am open to suggestion). Of course, KAL projects are welcome at our Tuesday knitnight, too!
